Sobre el gozo y la soledad. About bliss and solitude
Gozo
Cuando paseo por la calles de cualquier ciudad y me encuentro con un músico ambulante suelo pararme a escucharle. Algunas veces, las menos, me he encontrado con personas que, con un instrumento musical en las manos, simulan que tocan algo que se llama música intentando conseguir algún donativo de las personas que pasan.
Por otro lado, la mayoría de las veces, las cosa no son de esta forma y se suele escuchar melodías interesantes, tanto de estilo popular como clásico. Si lo que tocan es buena música, y muchas veces lo es, me paro y escucho, a veces un rato prolongado, otras solo el tiempo suficiente para que el sonido penetre en mi interior. El escuchar estos músicos ambulantes, disfrutar de su música, ver como sus manos se mueven para producir esas notas y observar sus gestos me llenan de paz y tranquilidad. Hoy se me ocurre que estos momentos evanescentes e irrepetibles son un pequeño ejemplo de momentos de dicha y de sensación de gozo.
La foto trae al lector uno de estos momentos; un músico toca su violonchelo en una calle justo al lado de la Catedral de la ciudad de Toledo, España. El violonchelo , en particular, me atrae fuertemente, su sonido me logra envolver, quizás me transmite, de forma más potente, el espíritu del que lo toca, no sé…
Soledad
Hay momento en los que la soledad es un bien muy apreciado pero, en otras ocasiones, el estar solo te puede arrastrar a sitios no deseados. En este apartado solo quiero referirme a la foto y su ambiente, aparentemente solitario; quizás no me atreva a escribir sobre la soledad,
La fotos nos trae a dos personas que, de forma independiente, están tomando el sol a la orilla del río Arno. Están cada uno, en su mundo, disfrutando del sol y del clima, no están muy lejos el uno del otro pero, a pesar de ello, se puede apreciar la gran distancia, no física, que los separa. La foto sitúa a las personas aproximadamente en el centro del tercio inferior, el resto solo nos presenta unas mesas y sillas vacía y unas plantas protegidas para que crezcan, y, en conjunto, un espacio vacío y lleno de soledad.
Lo interesante de la toma es que a unos metro aguas arriba del río se encuentra el puente Vecchio con su multitud de peatones cruzándolo de un lado a otro. También junto a mi, mientras hacía la foto, apoyado en un pequeño muro protector, estaban apoyadas disfrutando del sol o del río un gran número de personas, probablemente turistas como yo. A pesar de todo este ambiente, rodeando a las personas de la orilla, ellos vivían con tranquilidad esos momentos de soledad que, probablemente, necesitaban para continuar sus vidas.
Bliss
When I walk down the streets of any city and I find a street musician I often stop and listen. Sometimes, the less, I have met people who, with a musical instrument in the hands, simulating playing something, trying to get a donation of people passing.
On the other hand, most of the time, things are not this way and often hear interesting melodies both popular and classical style. If it is good music playing, and often is, I stop and listen, sometimes a long time, others just enough so that the sound penetrates inside me. Listening to these street musicians, enjoy your music, watch as their hands move to produce these notes and observe his actions fill me with peace and tranquility. Now it occurs to me that these evanescent and unrepeatable moments are a small example of moments of joy and sense of delight.
The photo brings the reader one of these moments; a musician plays his cello on a street just off the Cathedral of Toledo, Spain. The cello, in particular, strongly attracts me, the sound achieved wrap me, I might spread, in a more potent form, the spirit of touching it, I do not know …
Solitude
There are times in which solitude is a very well appreciated but, on other occasions, being alone you can drag unwanted sites. In this section, I just want to refer to the photo and environment, apparently alone; maybe I dare not write about solitude.
The pictures brings two people independently, are sunbathing on the banks of the River Arno. They are each, in their world, enjoying the sun and climate, are not far from each other but, nevertheless, we can appreciate the great distance, not physical, that separates them. The photo puts people at approximately the center of the lower third, the rest just gives us some empty tables and chairs and protected plants to grow, and, together, empty and full of solitude space.
The interesting thing is that it takes about meter upstream of the river is the Ponte Vecchio, in Florence, with its multitude of pedestrians crossing from one side to another. Also next to me, while making the picture, rest on a small protective wall, they were enjoying the sun or the river a large number of people, probably tourists like me.
Despite all this environment, surrounding people from the shore, they lived in peace those moments of solitude that probably needed to continue their lives.

Un fin de semana entre Paellas Valencianas
Hace unos quince años un buen amigo propuso hacer un viaje a Valencia, a sus zonas de playa, durante un fin de semana para pasar un día de sol, mar y, además, comernos una buena paella valenciana. La propuesta fue aceptada fijándose la fecha en la que haríamos ese viaje playero y gastronómico, el mes elegido fue el de junio por ser previo a las fechas de las vacaciones y pensando que también los restaurantes tendrían menos afluencia de clientes. En resumen la propuesta fue aceptada y la fecha elegida.
Desde aquellos días hasta hoy hemos hecho muchos viajes y, cumpliendo el objetivo, tomado mucho sol y comido muchas paellas. Sobre este típico plato valenciano es sobre lo que hoy quiero poner unas letras.
Sobre paellas me parece que se ha hablado mucho y pienso que se seguirá hablando, me he cruzado con personas que son amantes de la paella, que dicen hacer buenas paellas, que hacen la mejor paella; que dictaminan sobre si la paella que se está comiendo es buena, mala o regular; y yo, que no entiendo de paella, no se hacer una paella, no tengo recursos para hacerla pero que, quizás debido a mi profesión, me gusta saborear y aprender sobre nuevos platos, y siempre ando detrás de fijarme el estándar de lo que se puede considerar una buena paella, ahora, para mi sorpresa, voy a dar mi opinión sobre las paellas que hemos comido en este viaje.
En este orden de cosas, aprovechando que teníamos varios día de fiesta en Madrid, nos fuimos un jueves, por la mañana, a Valencia. La idea era llegar sobre las 13 horas y dirigirnos al primer restaurante elegido, con la mesa para siete previamente reservada desde Madrid, para la primera paella de esta viaje. Así lo hicimos.
Ya hemos aprendido que si vamos a paella, vamos a paella, por lo que no solemos tomar entrantes u otros platos que desfiguren a la estrella del viaje: la paella. Llegó la señorita encargada de tomar la comanda, nos ofreció sus platos y solo anotó paella valenciana para siete, agua y alguna cerveza, dado que teníamos que seguir conduciendo, después de la comida.
Como tiene que ocurrir para la paella, esperamos el tiempo adecuado, para que se hiciera. Como siempre ocurre la llegada del plato te sorprende por el diámetro de la paella, la presentación, el olor y la vista. Sé que no podéis apreciar lo que relato, pero os pongo una foto para que participéis, solo tenéis que ser un poco imaginativos.
Hay que decir que la paella estaba muy buena, con un poco de tiempo logramos hacer que el arroz y el resto de ingredientes fueran, poco a poco, desapareciendo de la paella.
Puesto que es un viaje a la zona de las paellas la cosa no quedo aquí. Dimos un descanso al cuerpo y dos días más tarde estábamos a las 14 horas esperando el segundo encargo. Esta vez el lugar elegido no es un restaurante especializado en paella, es un bar donde, hace un par de años, por accidente, nos prepararon, sobre la marcha, una paella para la comida. La llegada a este bar se produjo después de andar desorientados buscando un lugar que conocíamos de un viaje anterior. Estábamos en Gandía, un pueblo de Valencia, perdidos entre las calles y como se nos acercaba la hora de comer preguntamos a unos chicos dónde podríamos comer, su repuesta, muy amable, fue enviarnos a un bar cercano donde era posible nos dieran de comer. Entramos en el bar y preguntamos si nos podían hacer una paella, todos nos sorprendimos por la respuesta afirmativa que estuvo acompañada de un lógico vuelvan en una media hora y la tendrán lista. También nos sorprendimos con el resultado; comimos una estupenda paella.
Con la experiencia que acabo de relatar, este año decidimos llamar el día antes y pedir que nos hicieran la paella. El día elegido, a las 14 horas estábamos en el bar donde nos habían preparado unas mesas para comer. Trajeron las bebidas, y unos diez minutos más tarde la esperada paella que en un momento fue colocada en el centro de la mesa para que diéramos buena cuenta de ella. Os pongo ahora la foto para que tengáis un idea de lo que hablo.
Ahora tenemos las dos paellas en sus fotos y es el momento de algún corto comentario:
La opinión general fue que las dos paellas estaban estupendas, pero que la segunda, la del bar, estaba mucho mejor que la primera. Como estamos hablando de dos paellas valencianas primero hay que aclarar que las dos tenían los ingredientes comunes a este tipo de paella: Arroz, conejo, pollo, judías verdes, garrafones, pimientos, limones y el resto de ingredientes necesarios para hacer el caldo donde preparar el arroz.
Quizás la diferencia entre la primera y segunda paella se base en que la primera tenía un poco más de aceite, que quedaba en el plato conforme el arroz iba desapareciendo, y, además, que la segunda, no le sobraba el aceite, tenía alcachofas y unas pequeñas albóndigas con un ligero y estupendo sabor a canela. Esta novedad, para nosotros, hizo que quedáramos muy satisfecho de la paella, cosa que comunicamos a la cocinera y dueña del bar.
La conclusión final de este viaje es que nos habíamos comido un par de las mejores paellas de todos los viajes. Ha sido una interesante experiencia gastronómica que hemos tenido que equilibrar, posteriormente, con unas horas de caminar.
El año que viene será otra historia.
A weekend with Valencian Paellas
About fifteen years ago a good friend suggested a trip to Valencia, its beach areas over a weekend for a day of sun, sea and also eat a good paella. About paellas I think much has been said, and I think we will continue talking. I have come across people who: are lovers of paella, they are claiming to do a good paella, to make the best paella, who decide on whether you are eating paella is good, fair or poor; and me, that I do not know how to do a paella, I have no resources to do it but, perhaps because of my profession, I like to enjoy and learn about new dishes, and always walk behind establishing the standard of what is It can be considered a good paella, now, surprisingly, I will give my opinion about the paellas that we ate on this trip.
In this vein, taking advantage we had several holiday in Madrid, we went on a Thursday morning at Valencia. The idea was to get over the hours and go to the first restaurant chosen, with a previously booked table for seven from Madrid. It was going to be the first paella of this trip. So we did.
We have learned that if we are to paella, paella will, so we do not usually take started or other dishes that disfigure the star of the trip: the paella. The order was paella for seven, water and some beers, since we had to keep driving, after the meal.
As has to happen for the paella, we expect the right time to do it. As the arrival of the dish always happens surprises by the diameter of the paella, presentation, smell and sight. They brought drinks, and ten minutes later the expected paella at one point was placed in the center of the table so that we gave a good account of it. Now we have the two paellas in the photos and it is time for a short comment:
The general opinion was that the two paellas were great, but the second one was much better than the first one. As we are talking about two Valencian paella it must first clarify that the two had common ingredients in this type of food: rice, rabbit, chicken, green beans, “garrafones”, peppers, lemons and other ingredients needed to make the broth can prepare rice.
Perhaps the difference between the first and second paella is based on the first had a little oil left in the dish as the rice was disappearing. As the second, did not have too oil, had artichokes and small meat balls with a light and good cinnamon taste. This novelty, for us, was that we were very satisfied, what was communicated to the cook and owner of the bar.
The final conclusion of this trip was that we had eaten a couple of the best paellas of all trips. It was an interesting experience we have had to balance thereafter with a few hours of walking.
Next year will be another story.

Un interruptor de alarma al que no le gustaba el sol de Sevilla. Problem Solving (PS)
De vez en cuando te encuentras con algún problema interesante, el caso de este interruptor de alarma es interesante no solo por el propio fallo y su causa sino, que para que el fallo se produjera tuvieron que ponerse en juego otros aspectos de los descritos en la Planificación Avanzada de la Calidad.
Un fallo mecánico o eléctrico puede llegara a ser complejo de que se produzca, en otros casos se tienen que concatenar una serie de circunstancias para que le fallo salga a la luz.
Este caso cubre aspectos específicos del funcionamiento de un interruptor y se deja acompañar por otros fallos achacarle a una mala gestión.

La fuente y causa de las Tolerancias, impacto en la Variación, aplicando SPC
Cuando hablamos de control estadístico de proceso es tónica general hablar, principalmente, del lado de la estadística, su forma de aplicación y su forma de interpretación. Es habitual olvidarse de la otra parte de la ecuación ¡las Tolerancias!
Las Tolerancias parecen que han bajado de no sé que etéreo lugar de forma que nadie se hace la pregunta, cuando se está poniendo el proceso bajo control estadístico, de la idoneidad de las mismas.
Si eres un fabricante que desarrolla su propio producto la función de diseño colocará las especificaciones y el resto de funciones tendrán la obligación de cumplirlas
Si eres un fabricante que recibes el plano terminado, lo normal es que toda tu preocupación se centre en hacer que tu proceso sea capaz de satisfacer los requisitos del cliente.
Para características, que tal vez no participan directamente en el desempeño de la función del producto o proceso, se puede admitir la aceptación tácita de esta forma de gestión, pero no para las significativas.
El estudio de factibilidad puede que sea, en ciertos casos, un simple paso más a cumplimentar en la relación contractual, aunque es muy posible que no sea tan simple ese paso. Las funciones, implicadas en la obtención de un producto o proceso ya sea cliente o proveedor, interno o externo, tienen que saber, aguas arriba, que la función se va conseguir. Y que la tolerancia que se coloque a lado de la característica significativa del producto es coherente con los recursos que se asignan para conseguirla. Todo lo contrario es una pérdida general de coste, calidad y tiempo.

The source and cause of the Tolerances, impact in the Variation, applying SPC
When we talk about statistical process control, the general trend is mainly on the side of statistics, if it is applicable and its way of interpretation. It is usual forget about the other side of the equation, the tolerances!
Tolerances seem to come from an ethereal place so that no one asks the question, when they are putting the process under statistical control, the suitability of the same.
If you are a manufacturer that develops its own product, the design function will set specifications, other functions will be required to fulfill them.
If you are a manufacturer that you receive the drawings to the finished level, it is normal that all your concern is focused on making your process is able to meet customer requirements.
For characteristics, perhaps not directly involved in carrying out the function of the product or process, can accept the tacit acceptance of this form of management, but no for characteristics significative.
The feasibility study may be, in certain cases, a simple step to be completed in the contractual relationship, although it is may not be so simple that step. The functions involved in obtaining a product or process either customer or supplier, internal or external, need to know, upstream, the function will get. And that tolerance to be placed, beside the significant feature of the product, is consistent with the resources allocated to achieve it. The opposite is a general loss of cost, quality and time.

Mis instantáneas de un paseo de dos días por Córdoba. España.
Esta pasada semana he tenido el gran placer de pasar dos días en nuestra maravillosa y andaluza Córdoba. La estupenda excusa para este viaje ha sido el reunirme con antiguos compañeros de estudio del Colegio de la Salle en Melilla.
Han sido unas horas maravillosas en las que hemos podido vernos, compartir nuestros mutuos y diferentes intereses y, además, visitar algunos de los lugares significativos de Córdoba.
Además del encuentro tuvimos oportunidad de hacer una visita a algunos de los famosos patios de Córdoba, claro, hice algunas fotos; así que para compartir con vosotros una maravilla como ésa he preparado una galería con fotos de las bodegas Campos y de los Patios de Viana, lugares que visitamos.
Por otro lado, el día que llegamos, tengo que resaltar que, cuando cruzábamos el Puente Romano, para adentrarnos en la ciudad me llevé una agradable sorpresa:
El puente que cruza el Guadalquivir es un estupendo paseo, en un lado del mismo había un señor mayor tocando el acordeón, no tuve más remedio que pararme, no entiendo mucho de acordeón pero me pareció que su música, y habilidad, se distanciaba de la que se suele uno encontrar en otros sitios y ciudades.
En Madrid, y en particular en el Parque del Retiro, es relativamente frecuente encontrarse con señoritas tocando el violin o el violonchelo, jóvenes de distintas nacionalidades, y pararse a escucharlas es siempre muy agradable. Pues bien, al terminar de cruzar el Puente Romano, al pasar por la Puerta del Puente, me encontré con una dulce melodía de violin. Me gusta la música de violín, por lo que me sentí atraído por lo que escuchaba, me paré un ratito a oír y ver a la señorita violinista. Antes de marcharme, con tan buena experiencia, le compré un CD.
En casa he tenido la oportunidad de escuchar a La Violinista de la Puerta del Puente, Klara Gomboc, lleva años tocando en ese punto, maravilloso de Córdoba, es muy conocida en la ciudad y por los turistas como yo. Es Klara la que está en mi foto de portada. Aunque presiento que la satisfacción de atraer a tantas personas con tu música, en un lugar único en el mundo, debe ser inmensa, espero ver a Klara en el Auditorio de Madrid.

My snapshots in two-day walk in Córdoba. Spain.
This past week I had the great pleasure of spending two days in our wonderful and Andalusian Córdoba. The great excuse for this trip has been to meet with former classmates of the College de la Salle in Melilla.
They were wonderful times when we could see each other, share our mutual and different interests and also visit some of the significant places in Córdoba.
Besides the meeting we had opportunity to make a visit to some of the famous interior courtyards of Cordoba, of course took some shots, so, to share with you a wonderful like that, I have prepared a gallery with photos of the Campos Wineries and Patios de Viana, places we visited.
On the other hand, the day we arrived, I have to emphasize, as we were crossing the Roman bridge to get into the city I took a pleasant surprise:
There was an old man playing the accordion, I had no choice but to stop me, I do not understand much about accordion, but I found his music, and skill, distanced from which one usually found on other sites and cities. Very nice.
In Madrid, particularly in the Parque del Retiro, is relatively common to find girls playing the violin or cello, young people of different nationalities, and stopping to listen is always nice. Well, to finish crossing the Roman Bridge, passing through Gate Bridge I found a sweet violin melody. I like music violin so I was attracted by what I heard, I stopped for a while to hear and see «la violinista de la Puerta del Puente» before I leave, with such a good experience, I bought from her a CD.
At home I have had the opportunity to listen to The violinist of Gate Bridge, Klara Gömböc, she has spent years playing at that wonderful point of Córdoba. She is well known in the city and tourists like me. Klara is the one in my cover photo. Although I feel that satisfaction to attract as many people with your music in this exclusive place in the world, must be immense, anyway I hope to see Klara at the Auditorium, in Madrid.

Sobre garantizar las especificaciones con un proceso en control estadístico.
En dos de mis anteriores post he reflexionado sobre la reducción de la variación. Reducción de variación en un proceso que está bajo control estadístico, veía como aún estando bajo control estadístico la variación puede ser mejorada ya que el estar bajo control estadístico no es garantía de tener la mejor variación, evaluada por medio de la desviación estándar o sigma.
En este post redondeo la idea, estudio las situación en las que estando dentro de control se puede no cumplir con las especificaciones y propongo, sucintamente, la acción de mejora que corresponde. También identifico las etapas por la que hay que pasar pasar para tener un proceso cumpliendo especificaciones, concluyendo que para estar en especificaciones primero se tiene que reducir la variación y después ajustar la media.
Termino el artículo recomendando la metodología que me ha dado éxito en lo anterior el Diseño de Parámetros segunda etapa de la Ingeniería Robusta según el Doctor Genichi Taguchi.

In two of my previous post I reflected on the reduction of variation. Reducing variation in a process that is under statistical control, looked like while still under statistical control variation can be improved, since being under statistical control is not guaranteed to have the best variation, assessed by standard deviation or sigma.
In this post rounding the idea, study the situation in which being in control can not meet the specifications and propose, succinctly, the corresponding improvement action. Also identify the stages through which one must pass to have a fulfilling process specifications, concluding that to be in specifications first have to reduce variation and then adjust the media.

Sobre tener un proceso Control Estadístico y poder reducir su Sigma, “σ”
En mi anterior post sobre SPC reflexionaba sobre la posibilidad de que se pueda, o no, reducir la variación o desviación estándar a un proceso o máquina que está ajustado para tenerlo en Control Estadístico. Si esto es así, decía, el gráfico de control XR mostraría variaciones debidas exclusivamente a causas normales. En esta entrada continuo ampliando mi anterior artículo. Esta forma de pensar ha tenido interpretaciones todas muy interesantes. Mi pregunta, y sus interpretaciones, me han hecho decidirme a continuar tratando, un poco más, este tema, que quizás pueda tener importancia para todos aquellos dedicados a la mejora continua, o al lanzamiento, con menor variación, de producto o procesos. 
Me parece que revisando otros aspectos del SPC podremos encontrar una respuesta optimista; optimismo provocado por la posibilidad de enfrentarnos a nuevas oportunidades de éxito. A nadie se le escapa que el SPC, como elemento de información, una de sus aplicaciones es como sistema de alarma, basado en la estadística, para avisarnos de cualquier hecho que nos haga fallar un proceso, con la siguiente repercusión en coste, plazo y calidad, que seguro se producirá. De hecho, todo el trasfondo del “6σ” está basado en tener holgura suficiente (medidas en σ) en el cumplimiento de la especificación, para estar a salvo del potencial impacto que supondría no permanecer en control estadístico. Es pues importante saber que disponemos de oportunidades, que éstas son conocidas y que, manejadas oportunamente, pueden hacer ahorrar coste, disminuir plazo y mejorar la calidad. 
Vaya a mi página, lea mi opinión y espero que estemos de acuerdo; si no fuera así, pues para eso estamos, lo debatimos y a algún punto en común llegaremos. Considero que si esto puede servir, es mejor que lo tratemos a que se quede en particulares formas de ver el Control Estadístico de Procesos y la Variación.

About having a statistical control process and to reduce Sigma, «σ»
In my previous post on SPC pondered the possibility that it may or may not reduce the variance or standard deviation to a process or machine that is set to have it in Statistical Control. If so, I said, the XR control chart shows variations due solely to normal causes. With this post I am going to expand my previous article. This way of thinking has had different interpretation, all of them very interesting. Due to my question, and their interpretations, have made me decide to continue trying, a little more, this. Maybe it could have significance for all those dedicated to continuous improvement or release, with minor variations, product or process. I think we can get a positive response. One possibility which gives us many opportunities for success. No one is aware that the SPC, as an element of information, one of its application is as an alarm system, based on statistics, to warn us of any fact which makes us fail a process, with the following impact on cost, time and quality, it sure will occur.In fact, the whole background of «6σ» is based on having sufficient clearance (measured by σ) in compliance with the specification, to be safe from the potential impact that would not stay in statistical control. It is therefore important to know that we have opportunities, they are known and that, handled promptly, can save cost, reduce time and improve quality. La pequeña historia de un Plan Estratégico
Me parece hoy un buen día para hablar de esperanza y de futuro, empieza a hacer buen tiempo, hay otros cambios, además del climático, y tenemos que tener razones para ser optimista.
Ser optimista es enfrentarse, en una organización sea pequeña o grande, a la realización de un Plan Estratégico. Este post va en esa dirección marcar una estrategia de desarrollo y futuro.
Parece que la realización de un Plan Estratégico está reservado para la grandes corporaciones o compañías, yo no lo creo. Una pequeña compañía con quince o veinte empleados lo puede tener, y también creo que un pequeño negocio lo debería tener. Todos tenemos nuestras ideas de desarrollo, el analizarlas y tomar decisiones, a partir de este análisis, puede ser sano y productivo.
La página, a la que me refiero en este post, cuenta la pequeña historia de una pequeña compañía y de cómo estando en la idea de la gerencia el futuro desarrollo se enfrentaron a la realización de su Plan Estratégico.

The little story of a Strategic Plan.
Seems to me today a good day to talk about hope and future, has started making good time, no other changes besides the climate and we must have reasons for optimism.
Being optimistic is facing, in a small or large organization, conducting a Strategic Plan. This post goes in that direction make a strategy for growth and future.
It seems that the implementation of a Strategic Plan is reserved for large corporations or companies, I do not think so. A small company with fifteen or twenty employee can have, and also, I think, a small business should have.We all have our ideas of developing the analyze and make decisions, based on this analysis, can be healthy and productive.
